H2S / Sulphide Sensor

The determination of total dissolved sulphide (sum of dissolved H2S, HS- and S2-) is one of the most important parameters for the analysis of natural water and waste water in industry and offshore. But due to a lot of the hydrogen sulphide’s inconvenient chemical properties, like high chemical reactivity, very fast oxidation in the presence of oxygen and the fast concentration exchange between the liquid sample and the gaseous phase above (mostly air), the determination is difficult.

Even though the sampling and the determination has been done very carefully, the results are uncertain and mostly disappointing. All these disadvantages could be avoided, if the new CONTROS submersible H2S/Sulphide Probe is used for accurate and reliable the in-situ determination in depths of up to 100 m.

  • zoomCTD Standard

    60mm housing with C, T, D and protection

CTD Standard

The CTD STD is a high quality, high accurate multiparameter probe for oceanographic and limnological measurements of physical, chemical and optical parameters up to a water depth of 2000m. The probe can be equipped with maximum five sensors mounted on the bottom cap. The number of sensors can be extended by connecting external units like fluorometers, currentmeters or other devices via underwater cable connection to the top cap of the CTD STD.

The system is able to control and operate motor driven water-sampler rosettes (Hydro-Bios). The CTD STD is mainly designed for portable applications where low weight and easy handling is the most important feature of the deployment.

The probe is equipped with a high precision microprocessor controlled 20 bit analog to digital converter and has 16 channels. Data is available as RS 232 Signal (multiconductor cable) and as analogue FSK Signal modulated on constant current (single conductor cable). The probe can be powered by battery or DC-Power-supply (9 - 18 Volt) when using RS 232 output (3 wire connection for short distance) or by constant current with FSK output (coaxial connection) for longer distances. An interface for constant current supply is also available.

  • Standard parameters: pressure, temperature, conductivity, pH, Redox, dissolved oxygen, light transmission.
  • Optional parameters: H2S. Other on request.
  • RS-232 output or FSK option.
  • Ultra low power consumption (depends on sensors, typ. 30 mA).
  • 2000m Standard, deep-sea version on request.
  • Additional SmartDI™ sub-sea logger with many options: more sensor inputs; more output formats in ASCII, NMEA-0183 etc; internal logging to CompactFlash disk and many more items.

  • zoomCTD XS small outline

    48mm housing with C, T, D and protection

CTD XS small outline

The CTD XS is a small and handy micro processor controlled multiparameter probe for accurate measurements of pressure, temperature and conductivity. The probe is equipped with a 4 channel 16 bit data acquisition system of high long-term stability which meets the high precision requirements necessary for oceanographic measurements.

Due to its low weigth the CTD XS is well suited for portable applications without winches. In this case the probe has to be powered by batteries and data is transmitted via RS 232 port to PC, laptop or portable field unit. A 4,3mm multiconductor cable is the connection between PC and probe and can be used up to several hundred meters of distance. The CTD XS is well suited for borehole applications. The small diameter allows measurements in boreholes from 2” to 4” size. The probe and sensors are made of corrosion free materials. Housing and sensor protection tube have a rugged design.

  • Standard parameters: pressure, temperature, conductivity.
  • Optional parameters: fast oxygen, H2S, pH. Other on request.
  • RS-232 output or FSK option.
  • Ultra low power consumption < 100 mA depending on sensors.
  • 2000m Standard, deep-sea version on request.
  • Additional SmartDI™ sub-sea logger with many options: more sensor inputs; more output formats in ASCII, NMEA-0183 etc; internal logging to CompactFlash disk and many more items.

Conductivity Sensor

The new 7-pole-cell conductivity sensor with analogue output is aimed to probe systems with built in multi-channel data acquisition. The principle of measurement used makes it independent from electrical fields and magnetic effects. Its absolutely linear slope within the whole measuring range gives an easy adaptation to existing firmware.Using comparably large dimensions for the conductivity cell leads to long unattended measuring times, as biological activity at the sensor has only small degrading effects. The sensor's housing is made of titanium and is pressure resistant up to 500 dbar making it ideally suited for long term monitoring systems even at corrosive environments. The connection of the sensor to the data acquisition system is done by a multicore sea cable for power supply and analogue voltage.

  • 7-pole cell.
  • Analogous voltage output 0 - 2.5V or ±2.5V
  • Ultra low power consumption < 20 mA.
  • 500m titanium housing, deep-sea version on request.
  • Additional SmartDI™ sub-sea logger with many options: more sensor inputs; more output formats in ASCII, NMEA-0183 etc; internal logging to CompactFlash disk and many more items.

Pressure Sensor

This pressure transmitter has been designed for use in corrosive liquids and gases and allows stable precise measurements of the absolute pressure up to 1000 bar. The pressure sensor is a piezoresistive full bridge transducer. The transducer as well as its diaphragm are made of stainless steal AISI 316/316 L and built inside a pressure resistant titanium housing. The transducers have associated SMD amplifiers with temperature compensation in the range of 0°C to 50°C. Connection to a data aquisition system can be realized in two wire transmitter technique 4 - 20 mA or three wire technique 0 - 10 volt via a 4 pole underwater connector.

Each transmitter is shipped with an individual calibration certificate. Calibration is executed with a pressure gauge as secondary standard with 0,025 % accuracy.
