Already smallest amounts of oil in water have a negative affect on the marine environment and reduce the quality of fresh water in lakes and reservoirs. As oil in water contains significant amounts of PAH (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons), it can be detected with a sensitive in-situ fluorometer. The HydroC™ allows the detection of PAH traces in sea water and fresh water down to single ppb levels. Typical applications are discharge monitoring of factories and airports, subsea leak detection and many others. The sensors can be used stand alone or integrated in CONTROS’ Mobile Leak Detection System.

Function principle

The UV fluorescence principle used in the HydroC™ is much more sensitive than any other existing detection principle. This allows the detection of PAH traces in water down to single ppb levels. A new innovative coating on the optical system prevents bio fouling and keeps the lens free from oil films.
